The first MEDWAY Container train with connection between the Port of Sines and Madrid was held yesterday.

Composed of 29 wagons, that train can carry 61 full tires and has a length of 527 meters.

It was an exceptional trip organized in the last five days, in order to be able to place in Madrid containers of a ship that had omitted the port of Valencia in its routes.

According to the President of the Board of Directors of MEDWAY, Carlos Vasconcelos, "this train is part of a MEDWAY strategy of action that aims to extend the activity to Spain, while joining forces with the national ports, for a growing expansion Of the hinterland in the Iberian area, using multimodal rail-based solutions. Although this was an exceptional situation, this is a clear demonstration of our ability to respond.
